[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: Skaar
SERIES: Marvel 616
CHRONOLOGY: After the end of the "Dark Son" storyline in Incredible Hulks
CLASS: Anti-Hero to the max

BACKGROUND:
After genius scientist Bruce Banner was caught in the blast of a gamma radiation bomb, he found out that in times of stress and anger, he transformed into a green monster known as the Hulk. Angry, misunderstood, and hounded by humans, the Hulk spent the next decade or so rampaging across the Marvel Universe's Earth, getting into fights with heroes and villains alike, and generally making it impossible for Banner to have any kind of social life beyond waking up naked and trying to find pants. Finally, a group of superheroes in a secret alliance called the Illuminati - made up of Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Black Bolt, Professor X, and Mr. Fantastic - tricked the Hulk onto a space craft with the intention of shooting him into space and sending him to an unpopulated planet to live out the rest of his life, alone.

It didn't really turn out the way they planned.

Knocked off course and sucked into a mysterious portal, Hulk's ship crash landed on the planet Sakaar. The trip weakened Hulk and he was promptly enslaved by the Imperial Sakaarian race, forced to fight in their gladiatorial arenas for the amusement of their emperor, the Red King. Over time, Hulk's sapped strength returned and he made allies of his other gladiators, ending up as the reluctant leader of a rebellion. In a final battle, Hulk defeated the Red King and became the Green King, savior of Sakaar and ruler of its people. The Red King's former lieutenant, Caiera, fell in love with the Hulk and became his wife. With the planet prospering and Caiera pregnant with his child, it looked as if Hulk finally had a chance to be happy.

And then Hulk's ship exploded. The blast destroyed the Sakaarian capital of Crown City, killing millions, including Caiera as well as shattered the crust of the planet.. Hulk and his Warbound immediately left for Earth, to get revenge on the heroes he blamed for the disaster. He was unaware that while his queen was dead, their child survived. Born in a lake of fire, Skaar grew quickly, thanks to the shadow person ancestry on his mother's side. He had no friends but a species of bugs he befriended in the wilds, and his first few run-ins with other sentient humanoids always ended in violence and death. He was captured by a group of shadow person priests who marked him with the tattoos of their people and prepared to kill him before broke loose and killed them first. Before long, rumors of the "Son of the Hulk" spread across the broken planet of Sakaar, and the new self-proclaimed ruler, Axeman Bone, sent out squads of warriors to find every child they could and kill them, just to be sure. Through the combination of his own strength and the help of his ex-shadow priest teacher, Old Sam, Skaar survived both Bone's death squads and Sakaar's vicious wildlife for a year.

Though he denied it, Skaar had another helping hand during this time - Caiera, his mother, now one with the planet due to her mysterious tectonics-based "Old Power" tried to steer her son towards the path of the hero, only to find that the wrath and anger inside him was too much. Skaar went on a journey with Old Sam, the deposed crown princess Omaka, and others to Prophet Rock so that he too could attain the Old Power. When he finally did, however, Sam and Omaka realized he had no intention of being the hero they had imagined. Skaar used the Old Power to view every act of violence on Sakaar, whether at Axeman Bone's orders or random incidents of murder. In that moment, he decided that only thing to do was to wipe every killer off the planet, no matter what the cost. In a last ditch effort to open Skaar's eyes, Caiera formed a stone body with the Old Power and asked the Silver Surfer, herald of the planet devouring Galactus, to show Skaar just what kind of choices he would have to make if he wanted to play God. The vision showed what would happen when Galactus eventually arrived to consume Sakaar's Old Power, and how everyone he cared about, all the innocent people of the planet, would die. It seemed to work - until after the vision ended and Skaar threatened to use the Old Power to overload Galactus' mind and drive him insane, addicting him to the energy and forcing him to immediately gorge on every planet that contained it, all just to save Sakaar.

Caiera had had enough and promptly threw her son through the portal off Sakaar, banishing him for the good of the universe. The last time Skaar saw her was as she was consumed by Galactus along with the planet, while the Surfer lead the people of Sakaar to safety in space.

When Skaar finally landed, it was on his father's home planet, Earth. The Fantastic Four and Skaar's aunt, She-Hulk, were there and ready for him. Though they tried to talk peacefully, Skaar couldn't have given less of a fuck and soon attacked the heroes. His only concern was finding and killing his father, revenge for abandoning him and Sakaar, and he was about to do just that before a bomb strike ordered by head of national security Norman Osborn buried him under a few tons of rock. Skaar survived, but the shock reduced him to a new, "puny" form, one without Skaar's anger and a whole lot of self-loathing for his bigger self's crimes. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) getting wrongfully arrested for attacking a kid he was trying to help was enough to set Skaar off and bring him back to his hulk form, and this time nothing was going to stop him from getting to his father, even Hulk's former Warbound allies. The whole point of the patricide was lost, however, when Skaar realized that he wasn't facing his father, but rather a Hulk locked in his "dumb Hulk" personality. Disappointed, Skaar left and took up living in the woods, waiting for the "real" Hulk to emerge again.

The wait ended up being longer than he thought. Shortly after their fight, Bruce Banner was "permanently" depowered by the mysterious Red Hulk, and locked into being a puny but brilliant scientist. Banner found Skaar, who had even less interest in killing him now, and decided to train his son how to kill the Hulk for his inevitable reappearance - while also attempting to teach him how to be a superhero. Through battles with the unstoppable Juggernaut, Wolverine's son Daken, and the Mole Man's giant monsters, Skaar slowly learned how to actually play somewhat well with others, but never lost sight of his goal of killing his father. He finally got his chance when to save Earth's heroes from becoming self-destructive Hulk monsters, Banner absorbed a massive amount of gamma rays, turning into the "Green Scar" Hulk that had fathered Skaar. The two battled, nearly destroying the Earth in the process, before Skaar realized Hulk was focused more on saving innocent people than their battle. He finally realized that his father wasn't the monster everyone made him out to be, and Hulk realized that his son was truly like him and needed his guidance. The two both reverted to their calm states and hugged.

After this, Hulk and Skaar formed an extended family of monsters. Made up of Hulk's Warbound ally Korg, his oldest friend Rick Jones/A-Bomb, cousin Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, and ex-wife Betty Ross/Red She-Hulk, the group formed are bizarre and dysfunctional family unit. They barely had time to try and get settled, though, before Skaar received information through his Old Power- Hulk had another son, Hiro-Kala, and the insane boy was about to slam the planet K'ai into Earth, destroying them both. The Hulks took off to K'ai with the same ship Hulk used to travel from Sakaar to Earth. Hulk had every intention of trying to save his child, while Skaar and Korg were prepared to kill the boy if necessary. Skaar seemed to give his life using his Old Power to stop K'ai, but revived himself from the stone and tried to talk his brother down from his insane plan. When he failed, the planet itself claimed the boy, and Skaar had lost his brother forever.

And that's where he's coming in from.

PERSONALITY:
Skaar's personality is built on, and defined by, violence. He was born to a violent world and spent his childhood fighting against monsters and warriors trying to kill him. Due to this, Skaar has a lot of aggression, and responds to negative stimuli with threats or outright attacking it. Though he has somewhat mellowed out from his savage barbarian days (he actually talks to people!) he's fully aware that he's one of the strongest there is and isn't afraid to use his strength to get what he wants, which thankfully isn't a whole lot and mainly consists of fighting, no one bothering him, and having nature to hang around in. And milkshakes. Good luck getting him to admit that, though, since he rather be curt and answer in growls or just be a rude jackass than admit he enjoys things.

More at home in the wild and fighting for his life than in the comfort of civilization, Skaar connects better with animals or fellow outcasts than with normal people. He's gruff at best and does his best to appear dismissive of the "little people's" problems, but when it comes down to it Skaar will always protect the weak, just like his father. He just also has nothing against smashing their stuff if he feels like it. For the "guilty" - all killers, as far as Skaar is concerned - he has considerably less concern for their safety. He'll fight them if he wants, and kill them if he feels like he must, and he just *loves* fighting, especially if the opponent is actually in his strength class. If they actually manage to piss him off enough, Skaar can be very good at enacting his revenge, though the payback is usually anything but subtle. Morality is still an issue Skaar struggles with, especially now that he lives in a society with functional law enforcement, and it takes either a family member or a friend to talk him down from doing something drastic.

Beyond all that, Skaar doesn't give a damn about doing anything other than whatever he feels like at the moment.

While it almost never appears in his Hulked out form, Skaar does have a softer spot. The boy wants love, to feel like he belongs, and to be with people who will treat him as something other than a monster or a savior. This is most apparent in his "puny" form, which lacks any of Skaar's savage brutality and anger. Instead, Puny Skaar is meek, shy, and actually affectionate towards those he cares about. He's also not the biggest fan of his angry self's actions, though it looks like his displeasure towards Big Skaar has mellowed out significantly along with Skaar's genocidal tendencies. It's not all positive, though. Puny Skaar tends to get sadder easier than his other self (which is to say he gets sad at all) and can be far more naive than his other personality. Generally, Puny Skaar will change whenever faced with a situation that needs muscle to resolve...which is as far as Skaar is concerned, almost every single situation.

POWER:
Skaar's primary power is transforming between his "Hulk" form and "Puny" forms. The primary is usually Skaar's form of choice, since it represents his anger and like his father's is triggered by rage, though he can also control the change at will unless some outside source forces it. Puny Skaar looks like a twelve year old shadow man with a slight green tint to his grayish skin, and can pass for a weird looking human until someone notices his strange black and green eyes. Skaar's Hulk form, on the other hand, is where most of his power is. As Big Skaar, he possesses incredible super strength, being able to lift up to 100 tons and jump through the air in massive leaps to travel. His skin is superhumanly durable, being able to shrug off anything short of a tank shell and being completely immune to fire and heat of any kind, including lava. He also has a healing factor that regenerates wounds far faster than a normal human's and can survive in a vacuum without air or food. He also possesses greatly improved sense of smell, claiming to be able to smell fear and lies.

Skaar's other power is the Old Power, inherited from his mother and the Shadow Priests of Sakaar. This ability of scientific origin allows Skaar to control earth and stone, specifically the tectonic energies of a planet. He can absorb the energy to make himself stronger, sense disturbances in the earth, cause localized earthquakes and magma eruptions, or communicate using "echoes" with others, showing them flashbacks of events he has experienced. However, Skaar can only use the Old Power as long has his feet are in contact with the ground in some fashion and it ceases to operate when in the air or underwater. Unlike his Hulk powers, Puny Skaar can still access the Old Power.

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:
[The face currently glaring with rage in its eyes from the comm is probably not one anyone ever wants to see. Maybe it's because his teeth are showing, lips curled back in a sneer. Maybe it's because he's growling like an animal. Or maybe it's because people might have Hulk experience and notice how much this guy looks like a young, long-haired version of the Green Goliath.

Either way, the dude is pissed.]

-ahead and run, softskins! Just get out of my way! [He yells the warning at something off camera - perhaps a fleeing crowd of people - before turning his attention back to the comm.] This is a "phone", right? Then I hope someone's listening, because I'm only going to say this once. I have questions, three of them, and if I don't get answers within the next five seconds I'm going to start smashing my way across this stupid city until the moron responsible for this shows his face so I can tear it off.

[A sound like the crackling of electricity starts.]

Where the Hell am I?

[The monster's eyes start to glow with blue energy.]

What the Hell is going on?

[And now the ground starts to rumble in the area around the Porter building.]

AND WHERE THE HELL IS MY FATHER?!

LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:
When Skaar fell into a deep sleep on the shore of the lake - not a physical necessity for him, but occasionally a psychological one - he was seven feet one thousand and five hundred pounds of rippling muscle and barely suppressed anger. Now that he was awake, he was a child, small arms wrapping around his shoulders, trying to stay warm in the cold night. He wasn't sure where he was - somewhere in that big country to the north, far away from the City for now. No, he only knew that it was quiet and the only place he could possibly get a little of what passed for peace in his short, violent life.

Not that much of it, he thought bitterly. Even adrift in his dreams, Skaar's sleep was troubled with memories of the people he killed, of the planet he betrayed, of the mother he lost due to his own anger and arrogance. The fact that none of that was his fault, in a sense, would have clawed at his conscious more if he hadn't come to the realization that there is only one of them. There just happened to be two very different faces to the Son of the Hulk. He was as responsible as his counterpart, and they both had to atone for their sins together. Forever, if necessary. Even if when larger he didn't seem to care about it very much.

The boy slowly rose to his feet, wondering if he should have brought some clothes with him, other than their new bearskin loincloth that took...well, more than one bear to make sure it would properly cover him after the transformation. When huge, he was strong and could handle cold, fire, monsters, anything. Like this, he was vulnerable, and while it was easier to think and co-exist with others this way, that weakness didn't set well with either of them. They still hadn't adjusted to the fact that, in this world - or any of the worlds like it, apparently - it was okay to be weak some times. He didn't have to be "on" all the time. He didn't have to be a monster.

Then Skaar looked back over his shoulder at the broken ruins of a cabin on the lakeshore and remembered what he had done the night before. He could smell the blood a mile away, and when he found the cabin and the bodies inside there was little he could do but let the anger take over, let the men suffer for their crimes. Even if he had stopped using the title when he left Sakaar, he was still Skaar, Killer of Killers, and no puny humans with their guns and knives and only victories against helpless hikers would stop him.

As he sat back on the bloodstained ground, Skaar realized that he should be proud. He should be happy that he removed two killers from the world, that even his mother would have approved of such an action. Even in a world like this, sometimes monsters had to run in to even bigger monsters to show them just how little their petty evils mattered.

Instead, only one thought passed through his mind.

I miss father.

FINAL NOTES:
Skaar is coming into the City with a big sword. He likes swords.
